Security spike looks like ivy

Everyone wants to feel safe and secure in their homes, but no one wants to feel like they are in a prison.

Local entrepreneur Peter Greyvenstein believes he has found the solution with a novel security measure called Eina Ivy - a natural-looking security spike. When Peter heard about Eina Ivy, he thought it was a good way to be safe without paying a fortune.
"Eina Ivy is a security spike that goes on your wall or gate; it does not look like other security fencing. It looks like an ordinary ivy bush while it has razor sharp points. It looks very attractive, but it does the job," said Peter.

When he and his fiancée, Tanzin Deichter, moved to East London from Cape Town, they struggled to find employment. When they heard that Eina Ivy was looking for distributors in East London, they grabbed at the sharp opportunity.
"When we heard about this we were very excited and decided to give it a try. During the December holidays we went to Cape Town to visit family and Eina Ivy was installed in every second house.
"It is really big there and we hope it will be big here as well. There is a range of spikes people can choose from," said Tanzin

"This is a new and exciting thing for East London. We are hoping that people will invest in the product. Now families don't have to pay thousands of rand's in security measures; here is a cheaper option that works."
Eina Ivy began in Cape Town 10 years ago, and in 2008 it was purchased by Durban businessman and entrepreneur Sidney Unsworth. Unsworth has been in the security industry since 2003, with Eina Ivy now having distributors in almost all the provinces.
